Our perspective

It’s nice to meet you!

My name is Dan Pickens.  I’m a communications professional with a deep background in Analyst Relations, Public Relations and Marketing, and I look forward to  putting my experience to work in solving your communication problems and helping your business grow.

In this space, you may see discussions on current events, product announcements, newly published research, business mergers, government, natural disasters, etc, all with the goal of examining the communications strategy behind these activities or the responses to them.  We’ll do our best to look at it in an unbiased, supportive way, giving our opinion of what worked and what could be improved.

Why? Simply because it is instructive to look at the practice of the art and science of communication in the world around us.  On any given day, we can find examples of great communication that builds trust and credibility and helps organizations and individuals achieve their goals.  And, on any given day, we can find examples of poor communication, whether intentional or unintended, and can observe the damage it does to relationships and credibility.

I hope, by fostering these discussions, we will all find value and a greater understanding of the role communications play in our personal and professional lives and can put into practice what we learn. Clear communication is never a given, and with the distractions and press of our daily lives,  it is important to take an extra moment to really think through what we want to communicate and how that might best be achieved.

Again, it’s nice to meet you. I look forward to hearing from many of you in the future, and welcome any thorny problems you want to put before the group.  We’ll do our best to recommend a path forward!
